JOB DESCRIPTION
The Deaf Cultural Liaison functions as a deaf ambassador and works directly with deaf participants alongside CVTC leadership and management to facilitate the evolution of the program to include specialized deaf services. The Deaf Cultural Liaison will be proficient in bridging cultural and operational gaps.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Integrate and enhance the deaf experience in the Day Program setting which includes but is not limited to cultural, curriculum training, community, and organizational practices.
- Assist CVTC employees with understanding deaf culture, including how to best facilitate group learning experiences and how to interact in ways that enhance their experience.
- Improve knowledge of cultural linguistically appropriate training methods for participants.
- Assistance in recruiting and vetting American Sign Language (ASL) employment candidates.
- Incorporate assistive communication into weekly lesson plans, Individual Service Plans, and Individual Program Plans.
- Conduct deaf site evaluations with CVTC consultants and administrators
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Immersed in deaf culture
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid California Driver License
- Driver History Report
- Proof of Auto Insurance
- Vehicle available for use daily (We reimburse mileage at 67 cents per mile!)
- Passing of a TB test, a drug screening and a physical
- DOJ/FBI background screening
- Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities is desirable

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
PAY / HOURS
$47.00/hr., 37.5 hrs./week
