Each year, December 3rd marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), a global initiative established by the United Nations to promote understanding, inclusion, and advocacy for the rights of individuals with disabilities. The 2024 theme, "Empowering Voices: Inclusion for All", highlights the importance of ensuring that people with disabilities are not only heard but actively included in decision-making processes at all levels.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities reminds us to reflect on the progress made and the work still needed to create a world where everyone, regardless of ability, has equal opportunities and a sense of belonging. It’s a chance for day programs, caregivers, and communities to come together in support of a more inclusive future.
