Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Every March, we recognize Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month—a time to promote understanding, inclusion, and respect for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

This national observance highlights the many contributions people with I/DD make to their families, workplaces, and communities.

Developmental disabilities, which include conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome, are lifelong challenges that affect learning, communication, and everyday living.

But more importantly, individuals with these disabilities bring unique talents, perspectives, and strengths that deserve to be celebrated and supported.

This month is not only about awareness—it’s about action. It’s a chance to break down stereotypes, advocate for accessibility and equality, and create environments where people of all abilities are welcomed, included, and empowered.

Let’s continue working together to build communities that see the ability in every person.
